Tata Nexon CNG: Is a Fuel-Sipping SUV Coming Soon?

Tata Nexon CNG

The Tata Nexon facelift recently made waves with its sleek design and fancy features, but many car buyers crave one thing missing: a CNG option. Here’s why a Tata Nexon CNG might be just around the corner.

A Glimpse of Green Fuel

A curious video surfaced online showing a Nexon EV’s instrument cluster with a CNG bar! This could be a simple code glitch, but it also hints that Tata might be testing a CNG variant behind the scenes. This aligns with their recent push for CNG, aiming to make it a key player alongside electric vehicles.

CNG Champion in the Making

Currently, the sub-compact SUV segment lacks a spacious CNG option. The Brezza offers CNG, but at the cost of boot space. Tata’s clever twin-cylinder CNG technology could solve this, providing both ample cargo room and fuel efficiency.

Turbo or Not? The Big Question

Tata could surprise everyone by offering a CNG option on the Nexon’s turbo petrol engine. While unheard of in India, it would be a groundbreaking move. Otherwise, the proven 1.2L naturally aspirated engine from the Altroz and Punch CNG could be used. Expect a price bump of Rs. 80k-90k compared to similar petrol variants.

When to Expect the Green Nexon?

The wait might not be long! We could see the Tata Nexon CNG roll out within the next 5-6 months. So, if you’re looking for a stylish, spacious, and fuel-efficient SUV, keeping an eye on this potential green champion is a wise move.
